GREATER NORRISTOWN ART LEAGUE 2008 THEME SHOW PROSPECTUS


  “Night Scenes”

 

What aspects of the night inspire your art? Unveil your Night Scene at the 16th Annual Theme Show.   All media welcome but submissions must interpret/relate to the theme:  “Night Scenes”

 

OCTOBER 25-26, 2008:  GNAL 800 W. Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA.   Gallery Hours, Oct. 25-26 from 12 to 5 PM; Reception Oct 26, from 3 to 5 PM.  Awards Presentation, Oct. 26 at  4:30 PM.

 

DELIVERY: Art will be accepted on Friday, October 24, 4-7 PM ONLY.  NO WORK ACCEPTED AFTER 7 PM.

 

ENTRY FEE: Members-$5.00 (for one or two pieces) / Non-Members-$10.00 (for one or two pieces)

 

PICK-UP: SUNDAY October 26,  AFTER THE AWARDS PRESENTATION (Unless prior arrangements have been made with the show Chairs, a $5.00 per day storage charge will be assessed for any works not collected at the close of the show.)

ELIGIBILITY: GNAL Members and Non-members / Pro and Non-Pro

SUBMISSION: All media accepted. (ALL ARTWORK MUST BE SUITABLY FRAMED AND WIRED WITH BRAIDED WIRE ONLY!) Framed pieces must not exceed 32"x 40" in height or width. All sculpture must be freestanding and portable. No 3-D piece may be attached to the wall or floor for support. Work with temporary supports or fasteners may not be accepted.   Any work may be rejected for content or presentation at the discretion of the chairpersons. 


LIMITS: Two original pieces relating to the theme: “Night Scenes”.  Previously exhibited work at the GNAL is not eligible. All entries must remain for the duration of the show, and may not be removed until after the awards ceremony. If this rule cannot be followed, any prize awarded will be forfeited and violator will be prohibited from all GNAL exhibitions for one year.  All reasonable care will be taken in handling work. GNAL does not insure your work. You ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.


PRICES/SALES: Entries must be clearly priced or marked NFS (not for sale).  Checks for purchased work should be made out to the artist. The artist is responsible for paying the commission to GNAL: 20%, members / 30%, non-members.

JUDGE: Kathy Bestwick is the Founding Executive Director of the Phoenix Village Art Center. Her dedication as an art educator, textile designer, and community organizer has led her to develop the art center, focusing on Gallery, Education, and Studios.  The gallery hosts twelve major exhibits each year featuring both established and emerging local artists.  Bestwick works with both individual artists and art organizations to bring a variety of mediums and styles of art into the community gallery in the heart of historic downtown Phoenixville.
